The purpose of the first appointment is to familiarise ourselves with the case or, if this has already been communicated, to enable the lawyer to gain a better understanding of the issues involved. During this meeting, the financial terms of our involvement are discussed in full transparency before the case is opened.
This initial contact :
Our fees are agreed with you in advance, based on your requirements and the answers to be given. A fee quote and agreement will be drawn up in writing before any work is undertaken.
This agreement will set out how our fees will be determined. In accordance with the ethical rules of our profession and depending on the situation, these fees may be determined as follows:
As a general rule, our fees are calculated on the basis of the time spent on your case, according to an hourly rate set out in the fee agreement that we send you before we start working on your behalf. This hourly rate may be adjusted according to the nature and complexity of your case.
Our fees are set on a global and fixed basis, if necessary for each stage of your case, before we begin our work.
It is possible to invoice on a fixed fee basis for all services to be provided if the case can proceed without risk or complication. If the case requires further work, a new fee agreement will be drawn up.
For example, the firm uses this billing method for routine legal transactions (incorporations, legal secretarial services, etc.), for certain exceptional transactions (restructurings, acquisitions, etc.) or to resolve certain tax issues.
The tasks and services covered by these fixed fees are precisely defined in the fee agreement negotiated and signed with our clients in advance.
If you need day-to-day legal advice on company or tax law, or a tax review of your annual corporate income tax returns, we can offer you an annual subscription which gives you the advantage of being able to consult our lawyers at your leisure under the terms of the agreement.
In litigation cases or cases involving assistance in tax audits and proceedings, and depending on the results obtained, we may agree to an additional fee based on the results obtained by the Firm (on the compensation obtained, gains made, sums saved or recovered), in addition to a reduced fixed fee compared to billing on a time spent basis or a traditional fixed fee, in accordance with the ethical rules of the legal profession.
The fixed fee is payable at the outset or during the course of the case, whereas the contingency fee is paid to the firm only when the compensation, gain, recovery or saving is definitively obtained by you.
Regardless of the method of remuneration chosen, a retainer may be requested when the case is opened.
Depending on the requirements of the case and your wishes, we may also incur costs and disbursements which will be invoiced to you on presentation of receipts.
